Thecla betulae (Linnaeus, 1758)   


Range: Temperate Eurasia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Very local from sea level to ca. 1400 m (Abadjiev 2001).

Habitat: Bushy places at forest margins and in river valleys.

Bionomics: One generation from July till August; near Burgas found from June till mid-October (Buresch  & Tuleschkow 1930). Larval host-plant: Prunus spinosa (Rosaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: A poorly known, relatively rare species which needs further research. IUCN category: Data Deficient.
