Satyrium pruni (Linnaeus, 1758)

Range: Temperate Eurasia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Local in mountains and their foothills between ca. 300 and 1200 m a.s.l.

Habitat: Bushy places at forest margins.

Bionomics: One generation from May till July. Larval host-plant: Prunus spinosa (Rosaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: A very poorly known species in Bulgaria, perhaps due not to actual rarity but rather to its cryptic way of life. Its distribution and population dynamics merit research. IUCN category: Data Deficient.
