Plebeius dorylas ([Schiffermüller], 1775)

Range: Europe and Asia Minor to Caucasus.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Very local, predominantly mountain species so far known from Vitosha, Lozenska planina, Rila, Stara Planina, W Rhodopi, Pirin, Belasitsa and Alibotush; also reported from Zemen and Kresna gorges of Struma river. From 200 to ca. 2000 m a.s.l.

Habitat: Dry grassy rocky places, usually in calcareous terrain.

Bionomics: One or two generations from May till August. Larval host-plant: Anthyllis vulneraria (Fabaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: A local species with limited range in Bulgaria, although not directly threatened. IUCN category: Lower risk, near threatened.
