Pieris mannii (Mayer, 1851)   

Name in Tolman & Lewington (1997): Artogeia mannii
 

Range: N Africa, S Europe, Turkey, Syria, Iran.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread, though local, S of Stara Planina; N of that range occurs in warm river gorges in its foothills and along the Black Sea coast. From sea level up to ca. 1800 m, but reported even from 2400 m in Rila (Abadjiev 2001).

Habitat: Warm bushy and typically rocky places.

Bionomics: Three generations from March till late September. Larval host-plants: Iberis (Brassicaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: A widespread and typically abundant species. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
