Pieris brassicae (Linnaeus, 1758)   

 

Range: N Africa, Eurasia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread from sea level to ca. 1800 m, but specimens can be encountered well above 2000 m a.s.l.

Habitat: Diverse bushy places; agricultural and urban environments.

Bionomics: At least three generations from April till October. Larval host-plants: various Brassicaceae. Agricultural pest.

Conservation status: One of the most common and widespread butterflies in Bulgaria. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
