Gonepteryx rhamni (Linnaeus, 1758)   

 

Range: N Africa, Europe, temperate W and C Asia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: The whole country, from sea level up to 2000 m (Abadjiev 2001).

Habitat: Various bushy places, usually in or near woodland.

Bionomics: One generation which flies from late June to October and after hibernation from March till May. Larval host-plant: Rhamnus (Rhamnaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: Widespread and common. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
