Celastrina argiolus (Linnaeus, 1758)   

 

Range: Eurasia, N America.

Distribution in Bulgaria: The whole country from sea level to at ca. 1900 m, occasionally higher.

Habitat: Bushy woodland glades and margins.

Bionomics: Two generations from April till August. Larval host-plants: numerous representatives of the families Rosaceae, Rhamnaceae, Fabaceae, Ericaceae etc. (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: One of the more widespread and common butterflies in Bulgaria. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
