Carcharodus alceae (Esper, [1780])   


Range: S and C Europe, W Asia.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Widespread up to 1400 m a.s.l.

Habitat: Various sunny open places.

Bionomics: Two generations from April till August. Larval host-plants: Malva and Alcea (Malvaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: A widespread and common species. IUCN category: Lower risk, least concern.
