Euchloe gruneri (Herrich-Schäffer, [1851])   

Name in Tolman & Lewington (1997): Anthocharis gruneri

Range: S Balkan Peninsula, W Asia to Caucasus.

Distribution in Bulgaria: Very local: Alibotush (Drenowski 1934), the volcanic ridge Kozhukh, Belasitsa near Petrich (Nestorova 1984), the lower marble parts of S Pirin from Goleshovo and Nova Lovtcha villages north to Gotse Deltchev town (personal observations), Gospodintsi and Razlog (Abadjiev 2001).  From 100 to 1650 m a.s.l.

Habitat: Dry bushy rocky slopes.

Bionomics: One generation from March to May. Larval host-plant: Aethionema (Brassicaceae) (Tolman & Lewington 1997).

Conservation status: This species has a very limited distribution in Bulgaria and is seldom numerous. IUCN category: Vulnerable.
